about

Lilacs In Winter came from the curiosity and surprise of improvisation when based gently on some compositional material. The flowing in and out of composition, improvisation and words, to the point where one cannot tell what has been written and what is free, is a powerful and liberating manifestation, for the performers as well as listeners... in fact there becomes a point of no distinction in that regard. The personal quality of the music and the interplay among the musicians reflects a natural connectedness that is essential to our existence. The music and words are based in human experience, at the same time freshly, humanly spontaneous.
