Ulvens Döttrar - The Daughters of the Wolf is a vocal/ethnic instrument trio from the Åland islands. Original compositions inspired by ethnic Scandinavian tradition and the ancient national epic, Eddan, are delivered in a fresh setting by these three sisters. The songs, instrumentation and musical expression have a strong connection to the pre-christian era of this idyllic territory in the middle of the Baltic Sea. Among the originals are traditional folk songs creatively arranged by this trio with subtle influences from Eastern European and Asian contemporary world music.
The nominees of the prestigious Nordic Council Prize, The Daughters of the Wolf (Ulvens döttrar) continue their musical peregrinations through folk-tales from Åland ["Awe-land"] Islands with their original compositions. The three sisters have performed together since childhood with their exotic Nordic vocal sound self-accompanied by flutes, fiddle and drums. The trio received wide media acclaim as the finalists in the Tampere Vocal Music Festival in 2003, and has performed regularly since in Scandinavia and Germany.
