Then the king with his wand turned Peter
Tiny and trim as he was himself.
Everything else stayed big as before;
Such tremendous crowns the flowers wore,
The heather looked like bushes.

Since Peter's baskets were much too big
For them to lift, the blueberry king
Called two squirrels and told them to swing
the empty baskets onto their backs.
In a flash they bounded away.

They strolled by magical palmlike ferns
And an acorn large as a helmet.
Although a spider that they met
Tried very hard to look friendly,
Still Peter turned pale with fright.

Med käppen han rörde vid Putte helt lätt
och Putte blev genast så liten och nätt
som självaste blåbärskungen.
Men allting annat så stort det var,
så väldiga kronor blommorna bar,
och stor som buskar var ljungen.

Och Putte undrar: "Hur ska det gå
att båda korgarna med oss få,
vi är ju mycket för korta?"
Men gubben visslar på ekorrar två.
De korgarna svänger på ryggen, se så,
i några skutt är de borta.

Sen vandrade Putte vid gubbens hand
igenom ett stort förtrollat land
mellan palmer som vajar för vinden.
När stora spindlar de träffade på,
fast artigt de hälsade, hände ändå
att Putte blev blek om kinden.
